This
home is located in a very private park like setting with mature
trees and foliage. The first task was to completely paint the
entire house. I chose colors that mimicked the outdoor
landscape- colors of sage green, cream and khaki brown, so it
appeared as if you were bringing the "outside inn". In addition
to the paint colors, the great room lacked adequate lighting,
since the budget did not allow for recessed lighting, I chose to
paint the entire ceiling a light off white color and place a
ceiling fan with overhead light. This dramatically increased the
lighting and warmth of the room.

Another
challenge we were faced with, was the flooring, previously the
home had room to room carpet and aged linoleum in the kitchen
and bath. This was removed due to the condition. The buyer opted
to spend the majority of the budget on the flooring. After
assessing all options between, carpet and laminate flooring. We
chose to lay new ceramic tile in the kitchen and bath and match
the existing hardwood floors. We chose to keep the hard wood
floors a dark stain in the both the living room and bedrooms due
to the functionality of the space- this a summer home, i.e. so
moping or taking shoes off as you come in would not be
functional to the space. The dark floors and neutral tones of
the paint colors complimented each other. |

Secondly,
we laid ceramic tile in the kitchen and bath room, again we
looked at the functionality of the space and the color scheme,
this area was a bit dark so we kept the flooring fairly light,
while still be able to "hide the dirt", I chose a rust like
color that complimented the oak cabinetry this allowed the two
rooms to flow together.
Lastly, the we replaced all interior and exterior light
fixtures, to give the home a sense of togetherness.
After the completion of this basic design, I was able to provide
a solid base for the home, now the homeowner can decorate the
space to their liking!
