Unique Primitive Maine Wall Cupboard, circa 1880, one door cupboard with nice old original gray paint and wear. This cupboard would be great mounted on a wall or used on a table top. It has one door with the original cast iron latch and applied exterior hinges. The two board interior shelf is resting loose on cleats. Cupboard dates to the late 19th century and has a mix of round and square nails. Possibly made around 1880 from an early box or crate. You can see on the front where the old turning "keeper" was used at one time, see photo. Also visible is a square nail near the door. The cast iron latch is missing the inner spring closure mechanism as shown in photo. Paint has good wear and is the original paint, the left side unpainted. Charming primitive quality purchased recently here in Maine. Label on right side reads: "J. L. Staples, Sedgwick, Maine". Sedgwick is on the coast of Maine on the Blue Hill Peninsula in Penobscot Bay. This would make a great addition to anyone's collection, it also goes great w/ the 19th century single door jelly cupboard!
