Primitive Blanket Chest in original red paint, square nailed and original hardware, circa mid 1800's, from the mid west $695

Pine Tool/ Sea Chest found in Maine, Circa late 1800s and has a lift top lid made from a single board and four side skirt boards. The lid fits snuggly and comes off easily. The skirt boards corner butt joints are attached with flat head screws and small finish nails. It was originally made without the front lock. There is evidence that at some time small hinges were added to the lid, but are no longer there. It has original old reddish/brown paint with great patina on the sides. The top is well worn and has evidence of many years of use. There is a long fine crack in the lid (not all the way across). It is not serious. The side handles are cast iron and are quite sturdy and it is easy to carry. The inside is clean and all sides and the bottom are single boards. Measurements 16" D x 31 1/2"" W x 12" H

Dovetailed Dome Box, Measures 24" x 12" x 10.5"H. This is a dovetailed square nailed box C.1840, retaining its olive brown painted surface. Leather handles added later, original cast iron hinges and lock (missing the upper lock). I looks great stacked on other chests as well!
